Qualifying Swim Completed-No going back now!

I have just come back from a long distance swimming camp in Gozo, Malta. There I really learned what this channel attempt involves. I knew it would be hard, but I did not realise the kind of strain I would be putting my body under. We swam in the middle of the ocean in 16 degree water. There were many jelly fish and I got stung 8 times, they seemed to like me!
The first day we did an hour swim followed by a break and then a second 2 hrs swim. I got very cold and really started to doubt my ability to do this channel. The second day we did further and I regained confidence. It is all about realising that you can push your body very hard and if it is properly acclimatised to cold, you can be very uncomfortably cold and be ok. I was so cold that I was delighted to be stung by a jellyfish on my nose as it distracted me away from my freezing feet!
The last day we did our 6 hour swim. It was tough but I managed it and felt elated when I was cheered in by the crew (including my Dad).
